Lyrics
It happened today quite out of the blue.
She drove off in her car not heading too far.
I’ll be away for an hour, two at the most.
I’ve got someone to see,
I’ll be back around Three.
Standing up from the couch I see her drive up to the house.
She had that blank look on her face,
Like she was unsure if she was in the right place.
The garage door opens, the car crawls on in.
I could tell from her face, things looked pretty grim.
She stepped out from the car and started walking my way.
It was less of a walk, and more like a sway.
Oh how I wish she could get a grip,
Her life has become one permanent trip.
Her mind floats away like leaves on a stream.
Each day she’s living her unrealistic dream.
What possesses her to drink and to drive?
Don’t do that if you want to stay alive.
To rob your own soul of so many things,
While exposing others to the dangers it brings.
Oh how I wish she could get a grip,
Her life has become one permanent trip.
Her mind floats away like leaves on a stream.
Each day she’s living her unrealistic dream.
May there come a day when she will hear herself say no to a drink,
Freeing herself from a life on the brink.
