The time draws near, just a few days more.
You wait in anticipation for that knock on your door.
That special day arrives,
Your excitement hard to contain.
You run out of the house,
Shouting their names.

With your arms open wide,
You hold them so near,
Showing uncontainable joy
Now that they are finally here.

Or text once in a while,
But there is nothing to compare

You have many things planned

They have traveled a long way
For such a short stay,
Starting their time in a special way,
Celebrating my 73rd birthday.

We treasured each day of their stay.
We all had so much to say.
But in the blink of an eye,
The time seemed to fly on by.
We had so much fun
Since their vacation began.
It was now at an end;
We all felt very sad.
Just memories to share
Of the great fun we had.

They have now returned home.
We are back to communicating by phone.
We reminisce on all the good times we had.
Not having them here
Leaves us feeling quite sad.
