Lyrics

She wore Levi jeans and a well-worn jacket,
Stepping into her car, wondering if it will hack it.
It’s a 30-mile drive but her car's looking tired,
It will look out of place parked in front
Of the home of the man she admires.

She pulls up to the gate, so confused and frustrated,
Is it possible that it may work out better if she just waited.
Should she turn and head back,
Asking what is this she’s created?
She’s so nervous and so scared to walk up to the door
And face the man she’d only met once before.

Just a few days ago, she had walked out the door,
Leaving a husband, at home, he now feels so alone,
Questioning what she had done, had she acted in haste?
All those years together, had they really been such a waste?

She gets out of the car, and walks up to the door,
It’s the home of a man, she had met only one time before.
The door opens, she now stands, face to face and so close,
At the door of the man she had met only one time before.

Can a girl start a new life, to learn to love and adore,
With the man she had met only one time before!

Moving on 30 years,
There’s been many a laugh, but so many more tears.
The marriage so torn and so frail, looking destined to fail,
Hoping that their love will grow once more
As it did on the day they first met face to face at the door.

Yes, their love will grow once more,
As it did on the day they first met face to face at the door.
Face to face at the door.
