Lyrics
I used to spend each day upon my own, but now l am rarely left alone.
You see my wife retired last year, although the actual dates unclear.
It was at my work when l did something to my back, I was lifting a box when l felt it crack.
I went on workmen’s comp which was standard requirement, after that l took early retirement.
My wife requests that I start doing more. Such as helping out with the daily chores. The time has come to show some resistance. l feel l must do this to stop her persistence.
It would usually be my pleasure, to help with this endeavor, but I’m not feeling very good today.
To sit and strum guitar, is as much as l can do by far, why don’t you sit and listen to me play.
Small job, large job, any sort of job, there's no way l can help you clean today. So I'll sit right here and continue to play.
I smoke pot while attempting to sing, which makes me sound a little ding-a-ling. My mind becomes a so hazy,
Which makes my lyrics sound crazy. I think I'll pour me a glass of wine and write some more.
I try to sing like Dylan. His lyrics are full of conviction and feeling, unlike mine which are full of senseless meaning.
I've been told my lyrics read like utter crap.
You would think I wouldn't like hearing that.
But comments such as this, seem to roll right off my back.
Small job, large job, any sort of job, there's no way l can help you clean today. So, I'll sit right here and continue to play.
Small job, large job, any sort of job, but there's no way l can help you clean today. I don’t really want to help with chores today.
Hey here's an idea! I’ll go and hit a few tennis balls instead!
